“Most of us experience moments when we feel discouraged, confused or plain angry at how our life turned out. Although it is common to stuff these uncomfortable emotions away and keep plugging along, I urge my readers, to consider that these wilderness times may be gifts to awaken us to something deeper and better than our own machinations.

Weaving my pastoral insight with authentic stories and a fresh look at popular Scriptural stories, I propose that we embrace a new approach to life, where we see ourselves as creaturely recipients of Love and Grace.

The book begins with the famous lines from Psalm 23: surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. We know these words by David did not mean a life without sorrow or loss. Yet there is a flow of goodness and mercy woven through the complex tapestry of our moments and years. I then take my readers on a journey from considering the tenderness in creation, to a redefinition of hospitality and its powerful effects to the outworking of lives that are charged with this truth.

A paradigm shift can turn what seems a block of grey to nuanced hues of depth and vitality. This is my deep hope for this book, that my readers, amid a darkening world, will become aware of God’s gracious hospitality and be shaped by it to become more secure and rested and at the same time, animated to live out this hospitable grace wherever they are.”
