Mentoring Lenses

Track Description:

Similar to how two lenses in a pair of spectacles or binoculars provide depth of field, there are two lenses needed to look at small group leaders with depth – the lens of mentoring which looks at the holistic life of the leader, and the other lens of coaching which looks at leadership skills for small group ministry. This track will help you to become a better mentor and provide greater support to the small group leaders under your care.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Discover a model to facilitate a mentoring conversation
  • Study how Jesus coached his disciples and learn to coach through ministry skills


Course Commitment: 2-3h per Module for each Mentor


Suitable For: Zone Leaders, Overseers, Area Pastors / Interns & Candidates


Suitable Group Size: 2-5

Coaching Conversations

Track Description:

Knowing when to coach and when to mentor there will come a time in our Christian walk when we are faced with a specific situation, task or responsibility, that apart from character, calls for practical direction and steps in order to breakthrough for God’s purposes. Through this track, using the acronym I.D.E.A, we will look to scripture for a process to coach in the skills aspect of discipleship, to become a skillful coach in drawing out abilities, and helping people grow in Christ in relevant and practical ways.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Study what the bible says about coaching
  • Learn a process to coach in the skills aspect of discipleship


Course Commitment: 1.52h per session for 2 session


Suitable For: Pastoral Staff, Overseers, Zone Leaders, Interns

Track Description:

Paul and Timothy, Naomi and Ruth, Jesus and his disciples. The apostle Paul once said, “For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers…” When a church invests in mentoring, leaders and members will not be alone in serving God, and will not feel like orphans in the challenges of life. Let us journey together in building a culture of mentoring in our community!

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the key principles of mentoring
  • Create an environment suitable for mentoring
  • Be exposed to what a mentoring meeting looks like
  • Learn how to establish a mentoring relationship

Mentoring Personality

Track Description:

As with all other relationships, no one size fits all when it comes to mentormentee relationships. With different personalities and learning styles comes different mentoring styles. As a mentor, when you are able to identify your mentee’s needs and leverage on your strengths while filling in the gaps, you’ll bring out the best in your mentee in a mutually beneficial relationship!

Learning Outcomes:

  • Discover your personal mentoring style
  • Identify the needs of the cell leaders under your care
  • Learn to leverage your strengths and manage the gaps


Course Commitment: 23h module


Suitable For: Zone Leaders, Overseers, Area Pastors / interns & candidates

Mentoring Conversations

Track Description:

Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us.” Romans 15:1 MSG. Have the heart to mentor but unsure how you should go about it? Or maybe you desire to have more authentic and spirit-filled conversations with your mentee? Allow us to partner with you and the spirit as you shepherd God’s flock and help your mentee walk in God’s ways.



Learning Outcomes: 

  • Discover an approach to mentoring conversations
  • Learn the 4 spiritual directions of a mentoring conversation

Course Commitment: 3-month coaching journey that includes classroom-learning (video-teachings & coaching sessions of approx 2 x 1.5h), projects and follow ups


Suitable For: CG Leaders, Ministry leaders, Zone Overseers Leaders


Suitable Group Size: Flexible with involvement of Mentors/Facilitators
